Introducing MRPs and Sunsetting of RURs
Sunsetting of 19c RURs
Beginning with the October 2022 patching cycle, Oracle will no longer provide 19c RURs (Release Update Revisions) for versions 19.17.0 and later. The final RUR is Oracle Database 19c RUR 19.16.2 (released January 2023).
RURs are critical for database security and stability. Organizations running affected 19c versions must plan upgrades to newer Oracle Database editions. Reference: Note 2898381.1.
Introduction of MRPs
Beginning November 2022, Oracle offers Monthly Recommended Patches (MRPs), which are collections of tested, Oracle-endorsed patches released monthly. MRPs are available exclusively for Linux x86-64 systems.
Starting mid-October 2022 with Oracle Database 19c RU19.17, MRPs accompany each release update, available for six months post-release. These patches include:
- Fixes from Oracle Database Important Recommended Patches (Note 555.1)
- RU regression fixes
- Previous MRP inclusions
Release Updates remain available across all supported platforms. Non-Linux customers can request one-off patches. If no new recommended fixes exist in a given month, no MRP is released. Oracle provides merge patches to resolve conflicts between one-off patches and the latest MRP.
Download latest MRPs from MOS document “Database 19” (Note 888.1).
